Thoughts about calling

I’m no longer a Christian, see Lost and How I went to theology school and lost my faith

God has a special task for the rest of your life where everything works out if you just follow the (secret) plan.
Really?

When you are called by God for a task - you’re not going to miss it.
Paul, Moses, Samuel, Isaiah, Gideon, Mary, etc.
However - such callings are the exceptions, not the rule.

We are all called to:

“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’
This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’Matthew 22:37–39

And to:

“…go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father
and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”Matthew 28:19–20

“But how do you do that? It’s tooo generic I neeeed you to tell me what to dooooo…” (This is me)

We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying,
then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching,
then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously;
if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.Romans 12:6–8
