Lorde

When I’m working I sometimes listen to music, mostly to drown out office noise and let me concentrate on what I’m doing. Otherwise I’d continually get drawn into discussions about equality and civil rights and whatnot. Charlie.

I’ve tried listening to podcasts - these unfortunately make it impossible to focus on what I’m doing. I’ve tried listening to my music collection on shuffle but it’s too jarring, too focus grabbing, too many songs I love or have to skip.

I’ve finally settled on the listening to a single good album, on repeat. Something that has some variation, but not too much, something that has some energy, but not too much. And I listen to it over and over and over again, so it fades to the background, so I don’t think about it, I don’t process the lyrics.

This last few weeks it’s been Lorde’s Pure Heroine. I really like it.
